On December 21, 2021 (86 FR 72305), the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) requested public comment on an application for exemption from Rosco Vision, Inc (Rosco) to allow motor carriers to operate commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) equipped with the company's Digital Camera Monitor System installed as an alternative to the two rear-vision mirrors required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR). DATES: Comments must be received on or before January 20, 2022. If approved, Digital Camera Monitor System would be the second company allowed the exemption. Vision Systems North America, Inc., was granted a limited 5-year exemption (85 FR 2486) to allow motor carriers to operate CMVs with the company’s Smart-Vision high definition camera monitoring system (Smart-Vision) as an alternative to the rear-vision mirrors. Vision Systems’ exemption period began January 15, 2020 and will end on January 15, 2025.
