Course Description
This course is designed to provide participants with basic information for the transportation of hazardous materials. Participants will learn to use the Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations to make decisions involving identification, classification, and selection of proper shipping names for hazardous material (not including waste or radioactive materials) and apply the communication and shipping paper requirements. This training is a prerequisite for Module 2 - Basic Hazardous Waste Transportation Training and Module 3 - Basic Radioactive Material Transportation Training.
Materials Provided
Materials will be provided to facilitate completing the course.
Examination
Successful completion is achieved with a passing score of 80% or better on a written exam.
Record Keeping
Successful participants receive a certification stating that the training meets the requirements of 49 CFR 172, Subpart H.
Who should Attend?
Hazmat employees, as defined by DOT, who are required to make determinations about hazardous material shipments but do not certify those shipments.
