Course Description
This course is designed to provide participants with a detailed understanding of 49 CFR specific to the safe transportation of radioactive materials. This training utilizes a systematic approach that provides a logical flow to a radioactive material shipment. Study Guide scenarios are used throughout the course so participants can practice for the examination. This ensures that all participants will complete the necessary steps to ship a radioactive material in full compliance with Department of Transportation regulations. The training includes detailed information relating to the A1/A2 table and the calculations necessary for shipments containing multiple radionuclides. AAHP has awarded forty (40) CEUs for this class.
Materials Provided
Materials will be provided to facilitate completing the course.
Examination
Successful completion is achieved with a passing score of 80% or better on a written exam.
Record Keeping
Successful participants receive a certification stating that the training meets the requirements of 49 CFR 172, Subpart H.
Who should Attend?
Employees required to certify that Radioactive Material Shipments are in compliance with 49 CFR.
Prerequisites
Module 1 - Basic Hazardous Material Transportation Training or equivalent.
Module 3 - Basic Radioactive Material Transportation Training or equivalent.
Equivalencies must be approved by the Atkins Training Manager.
